Isom Dart

Not much is known about Isom Dart. He was a black cowboy born 1855 in Texas. Isom with his friend Matt Rash
drove herds here and there, finally settling in Brown's Park in extreme northwestern Colorado.
Brown's Park was along the outlaw trail and was frequented by Butch Cassidy as well as others on the run.
Dart started his own herd in this scenic area by being paid to bust wild horses. He was liked by everyone in the Brown's Park area especially the children. In July of 1900 a mysterious note was posted specifying that certain ranchers must leave the area. Isom Dart's name was one of them. However, this was home for Isom and he decided to stay.
On a cold October morning, Isom emerged from his cabin with George Bassett to feel the morning breeze. A rifle shot rang out from the woods. Isom Dart fell dead.
Normally, this would just be another killing in the old west, but the person who killed Isom Dart was the famous man hunter, Tom Horn.
Isom Dart is buried in an isolated grave on Cold Spring Mountain in Brown's Park near his old cabin. Directions given upon request. A high clearance vehicle is recommended and a 4X4 is your best bet if it rains or snows.
I have constructed a crude map which will help you locate Isom Dart's grave. You will need to maps to find the grave - retrieve both maps.
