UFO’s in Native American Art and Wild West

Aliens in America’s old West? In Aurora, Texas, the local cemetery claims to hold the body of an alien whose ship crashed there in 1897. In Utah, petroglyphs depict strange beings wearing what look like space suits. In southern California, 19th century ranchers reported seeing an otherworldly creature emerge from Elizabeth Lake. and even in Tombstone, Arizona, the home of Wyatt Earp and the site of the gunfight at the O.K. Corral, cowboys claimed to have shot at a giant, metallic bird are these simply campfire tales, or did the cowboys and native people of America’s Wild West actually come in contact with alien beings from another–much more distant–frontier?

Saloon Girl Fancy Dress – 3 Important Tips When Buying Wild West Fancy Dress Costumes

Back in the old days of the Wild West, there were many lonely cowboys trying to make a living in a place where the men often outnumbered the women by as much as three to one. In the western towns where the cowboys lived, it was the saloon girl’s role to brighten their evening, after a hard days work.

The saloon girl would of course sing for the cowboys, dance with them and even keep them company, while they spent their hard earned money drinking and gambling on the premises. the saloon girl’s dresses were always bright, colorful and above all sexy, so is it any wonder that saloon girl fancy dress costumes are today one of the most popular types of outfits at fancy dress parties.

Whether you opt for a daring saloon girl costume or a sultry saloon madam outfit, there is no doubting that you are going to turn heads at the party. However, here are some tips to help make sure you choose the outfit that is right for you.

Make sure that your costume fits well

It is common sense perhaps, but there is always that temptation to squeeze into the costume that you really want, even though it is a size too small. you would not choose your regular clothes like that, so please don’t choose your party outfit that way either. If you go to the right online store, they will have great costumes in your size, which will fit you perfectly.

Make sure you feel totally confident in the outfit

This is extremely important. do not be forced into choosing a costume, whether it be by your partner or a friend, which you do not feel comfortable in. Remember, this is your fantasy, your party and most of all, your choice.

Make sure your partner’s costume is a good match

This is perhaps not as important as the first two tips, however, in my experience it is always better to turn up to a party with your partner in costumes that compliment each other. so if you are wearing a saloon girl fancy dress costume, then perhaps your partner could go as a cowboy, a gambler or perhaps even in Mexican fancy dress.

When Did the Cowboy/Wild West Era Start?

Like, what year did the stereotypical cowboys come into being? somewhere in the 1800's and 1900's I'd imagine.

great question it would be around 1849 when the gold rush started, probably 1840-1860 around that time frame, history does not happen overnight, there are events that lead up to events.

even before the 1850's the west was wild and had people other than American Indians
but that is when the whole rush started

and you no longer have an email so I can write
and say THANK YOU

good luck

It is certainly difficult to dispute that America has a sub-culture of violence. The romanticization of violence has always been apart of the anthropological fabric of American society. This nation, the United States, was borne in the context of violence; Native American genocide, African slavery, public lynching and the forced subjugation of all things non-European. in addition, America’s fascination with violence can also be observed through its literary and performing art forms. in the 1940’s many films gloriously depicted the power struggles between “Cowboys and Indians.” of course the cowboys were almost always the protagonist and the Indians were depicted as brute savages. American society is lured by the mystique of wild-west legendary murders and thugs such as Billy the Kid and etc. When discussing the issue of the death penalty, it is very difficult to divorce capital punishment from the larger cultural phenomenon of the fixation and fascination with violence. some suggest that the death penalty is a necessary evil that reinforces social systems of rewards and punishments. in contrast this learner believes the death penalty is simply a reactionary response to terrible gruesome crimes. Studies indicate that the death penalty does not deter crime and it cost more money. “It costs $1.1 mil to imprison a person for life and $3 mil to keep them on death row until all appeals are exhausted and to eventual kill them” (Roman et al. 2008). These facts and statistics are readily available to the public. however, in spite of this “a recent study indicated that 67 percent of Americans still support capital punishment. This is the same as it was 25 years ago” (Newport 2007). if capital punishment cost more money and it is not a deterrent to crime, why do most Americans still support it? it makes them feel as if justice is being served. Murdering the murder may make the victim and the public feel vindicated. however, it also makes the society at large as violent and as guilty as the offender. in this paper the history, current challenges and possible alternative solutions to the death penalty in America will be discussed.

um well its WAY to long……second, you have too much info. for an intro. try to put some of that extra stuff in the 1st paragraph… other than that it seems pretty good

Create a Wild West Theme With Kids Cowboy Hats

Parties are always fun and exciting and nowadays people always try to set up a theme that they can use to make the celebration more festive and interesting. the most popular theme for a kid’s party is western and it does not matter if your kid is a boy or a girl because kids love to be cowboys and wear the ever coveted cowboy hats.

A Wild West theme for your kid’s party is not that difficult to plan. All you need are the basic western props like the sheriff’s stars, bandannas, ropes and of course the party hat – a cowboy hat. All these materials are readily available at your local party supply stores or you can check the internet as there are a lot of specialty shops online. of course, you can also make your own hats if you are inclined to do so as there are patterns available on most arts and crafts websites. but first things first, you need to send out the invitations. You can use invitations shaped like your party hat as this will be a sure way to inform your kid’s friends and their parents that they are going to a western theme party and to be on the safe side, be sure to inform them if you want the kids to come in cowboy attires. do not forget that your own kid needs to wear a cowboy attire especially as he is the star of the party.

You can spice up the celebration by putting up decorations that would have the feel of the Wild West. Try to make cardboard cutouts shaped like horseshoes, sheriff’ stars, barrels and hats and hang them around the place with some Christmas lights to make it more festive. a big cowboy hat as your table centerpiece is also a good idea. You can dress it up with a bandanna or turn it upside down and fill it with flowers, straws or candies. a birthday cake with the same western theme is sure to catch the attention of the kids.

To make your games interesting, you can use stack party hats and stack them like a pyramid and ask the kids to take turns knocking them out with small bean bags or you can ask the kids to stack them up in a pyramid and whoever builds the tallest pyramid is the sure winner. Check out other games and incorporate materials using your Wild West theme in them to make it more lively and exciting. Lastly, prepare give-away goodies by using the cowboy hats as your bag and fill them with candies and sweets that your guests can take home with them. these are just simple ways to ensure a successful western theme party.

Remember that kids have a fascination with being cowboys and they have always wanted a hat so having a Wild West theme would be the best party you can give them. What are you waiting for, put on your cowboy hat and start planning.
