You could be a horse or a cow. Or use a box and dress as an outhouse!

Or you could be the ghost of a dead cowboy.

Collecting Western Belt Buckles

As the popularity of Western style grows, so does the fashion and accessories of that style. Western Belt Buckles are currently going through a fashion revival. Today Western Belt Buckles are worn proudly by our president, the governor of California as well as celebrities and movie stars and millions of others who want to add a distinctive touch to their wardrobes. Antique style Western Belt buckles are becoming harder to find and more expensive every day.

It is believed the vaquero, or Mexican cowboy, first introduced fine silver spurs, tack and buckles to the cowboys of the untamed American West, and perhaps to the Texas Rangers. it might have been their desire to wear fine Mexican silver buckles with a wider belt that led to the development of the popular ranger belt and buckle.

The Cowboy belt buckle did not originate until the turn of the 20th Century. Although the idea of collecting antique belt buckles of the famous cowboys who rode the ranges of the Wild West is great, the reality is that the cowboys usually wore suspenders or buckles that were derived from military friction buckles. it was Hollywood and the Western Movies that gave popularity to what is known today as the Western Belt Buckle.

Belt buckles range from extremely large Texas stateseals, oil derricks, and Jack Daniels emblems to simple, elegant silver buckles, tips, and keepers. Belt buckles worn during the 1900′s and those worn during the Art Nouveau period have become highly collectible items.

There are famous manufacturers of belt buckles from the first half of the century. those include: Don Ellis, Michael Srour, Al Pecetti, William Nelson, John McCabe, Les Garica, Edward H. Bohlin and Robert Schaezlein. those pioneers of the industry are the ones that are most prized for collections.

There are many types of belt buckles you can collect. Besides the more valuable antique belt buckles, there are many companies, such as Hesston, who put out a new dated belt buckle every year. some rodeos have started making limited edition buckles every year. One such is the Wild Bill Hickok rodeo in Abilene, Kansas, who sells a limited edition of a new western design every year.

Silver belt buckles are very popular and buckles depicting eagles, patriotic flags, the Confederate Flag, and the cowboy riding the bronco to name a few, are popular buckles.

The Western Belt Buckle is both rustic and stylish and a good bet for any collector.

The Internet is the Wild, Wild West

And there ain’t no Sheriff in town just like the western frontier the Internet is a place where opportunity abounds, but it is not without danger. if you understand risk, manage uncertainly and protect yourself from diabolical people, the Internet is a magical place. When online, a good rule to follow is when in doubt – don’t.

Two main problems with the Internet are that 1) there are more scammers than can be counted and 2) it is hard, sometimes impossible, to determine authenticity.

In the Wild, Wild West if some cowboy came riding up to you, you’d better be a quicker shot or have a trusted friend covering your back. You could never take any chances because there were all kinds of hoodlums out there, alone or in gangs, that were trying to separate you from your property. and if you had established your homestead (website, email address), you’d have even more to worry about because they would always know where to find you.

On the Internet, the cowboys are the scammers and your trusted friend is your firewall, Spam filter and malware protection software to name a few. But even with these helpers covering your back, you could fall prey to a malicious attack. so you have to have a backup plan to protect all your critical data.

On the Internet, anyone can pretend to be anyone. Determining someone’s authenticity is just not that easy. In the Wild, Wild West anyone could steal the sheriff’s badge and the judge’s credentials. Unless you had another way to identify them, you could be fooled. this happens several times a second on the Internet. a scam artist masquerading as a someone authentic gets you to download malware, adware, ransomware, gives you a virus, steals your identity, gets you to buy something or send money to claim your million dollar inheritance. Many of these scams are so obvious that it is hard to believe that people still fall for it, but then again it is the Wild, Wild West

Western Wall Decor – Decorate Your Walls With a Touch of the Wild West

Regardless of where you live, western dcor seems to be in style. Of course, in the west and southwest, it is more natural, but you can have this theme in the east as well. One aspect of your western decorating that you need to make sure you address is the wall dcor you select. There are so many options you have when it comes to decorating your walls. One of the most popular dcor options is to use photographs of western images. This can be of horses, cowboys or even of a single cowboy boot.

Wall dcor also can be in the form of lighting. Because the style is so popular, you are able to find sconces with horses and even cowboy boots on them. There really is no better way to set your rooms tone these decorative pieces.

Although a lot of people focus on wall art when they are talking about wall dcor, you cannot forget about your wall borders. This is a great way to really complete your room. One of the great things about a border is that it really can set the tone for the rest of your western theme. for instance, if your border features horseshoes and boots primarily, then you can use that as a guideline for what type of accent pieces you should use throughout the rest of the room.

If you would rather not have actual objects on your walls, such as horses and boots, another great option for your western wall dcor is to go with designs. the southwestern Navajo design is really prominent in the western theme. the design itself makes for a really great hanging art, as well as a border design. you then can use the other western objects as accent pieces throughout your home.

To make things simple, what do boys love most about the cowboy days? I know about guns and stuff, but what are creative ideas? I have to decorate a box with the theme of cowboys/wild west. Any ideas?!?

the fighting over women! the horses, the cool hats and outfits. the guns. the shooting other dudes. the gang-like fight for territory.

Depict "Freedom." If you've never actually been out West. you cannot imagine the sheer beauty of the views. OK, that & the can_can girls ;-D…

Horses
Guns
Hats
Scruffy Beards

I think they like the violence. i mean that's all i can think of
